Sitting across from Marie, Whip looked around the restaurant to see who else was there and if they were taking notice of him with the beautiful young lady he was sitting with; a few eyes actually were on them, causing Whip’s chest to proudly expand. She looked adorable even just reading the menu.
He was glad that they weren’t seated near the fireplace, because large fires to him meant forest fire…loss of home…possible death and he couldn’t imagine that a selkie would be too fond of fire. He chose this table because it was central, so all could see him and he could see everything. It was perfect. When the waiter arrived and took Marie’s order, Whip was surprised she didn’t order more. “MY TURN!”, he announced with a huge smile, when she was finished, “I’ll have the Tako Su for an appetizer and the Combo special Salmon Teriyaki with the three California rolls”. He handed the waiter his menu, “Oh, we’d like dessert menus when we are finished please”.
Leaning his elbows on the table and his chin on his hands, Whip asked, “Tell me about your life as a selkie, Marie. What do you do in the sea?”. The pixie’s bright sapphire-blue eyes were twinkling with wonder; he really wanted to know.
