There was definitely nothing innocent about that look in her eyes, though.
Maya wasn’t offended when he talked about her jaw being strong, and as his fingers moved over it, she tilted her head sensually. “I did make it this way. If I had a soft jaw, I wouldn’t be nearly as alluring.” It was true. Even if her jaw was a little masculine, her other features more than made up for it, and the entire package was smoking. Anyone who tried to deny that would be a liar.
“Ah, I understand.” She didn’t really have connections like he did. She figured his parents were pretty powerful, but if Maya wanted connections, she wouldn’t go through her mother to acquire them. They could easily formulate them on her own. Besides, she really didn’t want anything to do with that woman other than ensuring that the older jinni continued to help pay her way through school. Having Maya hang around if she wasn’t in school was a powerful motivator to do what it took to ensure the school kept her.
“It will be a good party. I won’t allow it to be any other way.” Her voice was light, but her expression was completely serious. When she wanted something to go her way, it did, even if it took effort to ensure she had that control.
When he went inside, she examined her nails. She didn’t know how much time had passed, but she was beginning to grow bored. Maya didn’t really like to wait for people. Usually, others waited for her. If he took much longer, she would just leave.
