Jia Li Adlar awakened early in the morning as was usual for her, so she hopped in the shower. She was already pretty awake, but the warm water splashing over her skin cleared her head completely. The dryad was feeling quite refreshed and good. She ate some whole grain toast with natural peanut butter and drank some orange juice before she brushed and flossed her teeth. By the time her morning routine was complete, she was feeling quite energetic, and so she decided she would go for a little run.
This week had been a good one, and it had been filled with positive thoughts and with positive energy. On Tuesday, her class had gone really well, and she’d participated quite a lot. It wasn’t a course that aligned with her major, but it was fun nonetheless.
On Wednesday, she had gone jogging with her new friend, Kay. The siren had happily told Jia Li that the guy in whom she was interested had finally shown some interest as well. The details had only been basics: they had met at a bar, and they had gone back to her place to get busy. Thankfully, she had kept to herself the exact details of what happened, but Kaydence had divulged that he had been great in bed. The dryad wouldn’t have known the difference between someone who was good in bed or someone who was bad, but if an experienced girl like Kay knew what was what, good for her.
At least that meant he wasn’t gay, and that was good for Kay. It seemed unlikely that a guy who was a great lover would be gay. Wouldn’t he be avoiding getting messy with the opposite sex if he didn’t like girls?
After jogging, they’d talked a little more over breakfast, and they had made plans to hang out on Friday after Jia Li had her science course. It had been fun, and the dryad realized how much she really missed having friends with whom to waste time and just chat about anything. Still, she had been a little on her guard as she always was, but four years of keeping it up made it difficult to just release it.
They hadn’t hung out overly late because it would have messed up JIa Li’s early-to-bed, early-to-rise schedule, but it had been fun nonetheless.
Now, Jia Li wanted to release some of her pent-up, positive energy, and a light jog followed by some dance exercises would be perfect for doing it. After that, she would do her homework for Friday’s class.
The dryad pulled on her black yoga pants and a muted-green, sports tank top, and she was ready to go. She decided to run in the park as was usual for her now that she had begun to run more frequently. She preferred having the greenery around her as opposed to just having man-made things around her if she ran on a track. Besides, running in a park kept the visuals more interesting and less monotonous.
When she arrived at the park via tree-travel, she immediately began to stretch. One of the first rules of activity was to stretch to prevent injury to muscles. She’d known it for most of her life, and she had been surprised to learn that a lot of people didn’t learn about the importance of stretching until high school if that.
Regardless, she stretched before she began to jog. Her pace was pretty light and leisurely because she wasn’t trying to really work herself hard. Everything seemed perfect and happy in her life, and today was no different.
At least, that’s what she thought until a blight on her mood came singing into focus – literally. He was frolicking around the park, singing a song. He wasn’t a particularly good singer, but he could at least hold a tune. That was all the more Jia Li could do as far as singing went, too, so she couldn’t grudge him that. However, his dance moves could use a lot of work. He wasn’t exactly dancing so much as prancing around like the park was the stage of a bad musical of his life.
