Dhivael nodded when the Professor decided to explain what it was she had seen. It was true that it hadn’t exactly been obvious to spot, but it had caught her eye as being outside the normal trajectory of where steam would have moved. Intelligence was highly prized on ch’Havran, and keen observational skills were a necessity in order to obtain such intellectual prowess. “I find no fault in your logic, and I feel no offense that you sought to protect yourself from things that could very well be a possibility. I do not have any abilities to tamper with one’s mind.” She didn’t add that she could however read his mind if only through intimate contact. That wasn’t something that was widely discussed on her home planet let alone with strangers of another one.
“Life on Earth can be dangerous, but if you have no indications of the abilities of one who is from another galaxy altogether, you must do what you can to protect yourself from possible dangers.” She wasn’t exactly dangerous, but she could have been, and she felt Gideon Whyte’s decision to attempt to hinder her were wise.
The Rihan listened while he explained why foxes seemed to be revered above dogs. The idea of there being something mystical about foxes and not about dogs seemed a bit strange. After all, lycans could transform into either animal, and kitsune probably only added to the fables about foxes. It just seemed a little strange that an animal that had helped Earthlings so much would be considered lowly in comparison to one that was meant to remain in the wild. “I have had much to study concerning those of Earth. Folk tales were not a high priority though I know a little about them. I believe you have explained your meaning adequately.”
Dhivael contemplated just how much she should divulge. “There are three sister planets in my solar system, and while the races are similar to Rihannsu, they are not exactly the same. It is similar to how Earth contains more than just humans, but the races are mostly divided by planet though there is some intermingling. One planet contains people who resemble the fairer skinned people of Earth, and the other contains beings that are bipeds, but they have physical characteristics and very different abilities.”
Dark eyes studied the witch behind the desk. Was it still a compliment if it was laced with a hint of a lie? If he was always alert, it would make Dhivael’s keeping him in such a state redundant. “Would it not be more of a compliment to be more direct? In that way, you would not degrade your own abilities while raising another’s.” Being blunt was something at which the Rihan was well versed. It did not seem sensible to her to take a round-about way when something could be faced head on.
