In the heat, Dannika had decided to keep the window open in her room while she studied the open book on her desk. A light breeze tickled the drapes and made them flutter. She could see them dancing out of the corner of her eye, but she was focused enough with the soft music playing from her stero that it didn't distract her.
However, when the sound of someone singing floated through the open window, she glanced up. She knew it wasn't her music because she had never heard the song before. She got up and switched the stereo off, furhter confirming the fact that the music wasn't coming from it as it continued to waft in on the breeze through the window.
Stepping to the window, she stuck her dark head out and peered around. The sun was setting, making it difficult to see the stark details she would have been able to make out during the day. She reached for her neck, clutching at the talisman that hung there. It had become a habit for her to check that it was there after the experience she'd had with Desmond. Several times a day her hand went to her chest to make sure the medallion still hung there.
Danni had a penchant for women singers and although she was not overcome with the magic of the voice, she was still entranced. She decided that it was time to take a break from studying. Grabbing a couple of chocolate chip cookies she'd made the day before, she headed out of the door and toward the tree where a pink haired girl sat and sang while she drew. The song was very soft and Danni wasn't sure how she'd heard it in the first place, but she supposed the breeze had something to do with carrying it to her. That, and the girl was seated not far from her open dorm window to begin with.
She put on a big smile as she approached. "You have a really beautiful voice. Want a cookie?" She held out the offering along with a napkin. "I'm Dannika, and that's my room right there," she pointed to the open window with the fluttering drapes. "I heard you singing, I hope you don't mind the interruption."
