Quidditch anyone?
Think we can get a Quidditch game going?

Hermione...do you know of a way that maybe non-magical people can fly? I think it'd be brilliant to get a few matches set up, or even a tournament if we could!

Anyone interested in Quidditch?

It's less about the person doing the flying, and more about the charms used to enchant the object. Anyone can fly so long as they're on a proper broom. I'll have to look into it.

In the meantime, Regulus Black actually went about setting up a proper Quidditch pitch. It's hidden behind a wall of shielding charms on the grounds. That roped off bit of land near the front of the castle. I doubt he has any intention of opening it back up again, however, as he wouldn't even let me see it.

Wait, Regulus actually set up a proper pitch and he's not letting anyone play on it? What's going on? What's the point there? Shouldn't people be allowed to play on an actual pitch?

And all right, brilliant! Let me know if we can get some teams together and stuff. Maybe Mum can help with the charm work and research, too. She's pretty brilliant.

You'd have to speak with him about it. The last time I tried, things didn't go over well. I had to search back on the network just to find out what it even was.

Does your Mum play Quidditch? I never even thought to ask.

Huh. Maybe I'll give it a go with him, then.

And no, Mum doesn't play, at least not that I know of. But she's pretty good with spells and charms work, so she might think of something.

You're right. I'm just a spectator.

And that's not a light undertaking. I don't play Quidditch, but I know the charm work that goes into making brooms fly isn't simple and they're all predicated on the fact witches and wizards are already magical. You'd have to start from scratch to make them work for non-magicially inclined people.

It just doesn't seem fair that the others can't learn to play in this strange place, you know?

[Mum]

I'd be willing to help work with it if I can do anything. Not much of a book person, but I'm not afraid to try something new out. Do you think Regulus has the charms that could help people, non-magical people, learn to fly? Think it's worth asking? His younger self seems to think so, but I'm not about to ask him for such a favour like that straight off.

That's how it is at home.

[Harry]
Uh what? I don't know

You won't find out until you try.

I know; doesn't mean I have to think it's fair for everyone who's stuck here not in their own worlds. In this land of make believe, who knows what's possible?

[Mum]

...what aren't you telling me?

It's not fair for everyone back home either. You shouldn't think this place is what makes it unfair for non-magics to sit on the sidelines.

[Harry]

Uh, what? What do you mean?

I don't think that. It's...well, kinda difficult to explain.

[Mum]

Didn't you...know of Regulus at least if you didn't know him? Or well, do you think it's even possible for non-magical people to be able to fly? I dunno. Brainstorming here, I guess.

I'd hard of him, ya. But he was in a different House and a different year. Different social circles.

Ya, I think it's possible. There are a few rules that govern magic, but I can't think of a one that says 'It's impossible for muggles to use anything magical.'

Ah, gotcha. Those rules don't...really exist here, do they? Besides, Dumbledore always thought it was okay to bend the rules when necessary on occasion.

I think it could be interesting to see if it would work. Gives me something to do with my time, too.

No, I meant the laws of magic. Not the laws enacted by the Ministry.

It would be a large undertaking, I can't imagine anyone could figure it out in anything less than a year. Like I said, those charms are ridiculously complicated, even for the brooms that work for witches and wizards.

Oh, right.

It's still something to do, right? Might not be bad for me. Maybe we could work on it together. Or you, me and Hermione could tackle it.

Um, is there a reason you're not asking the one person people are saying has figured it out?

I'm sorry, I'm just not as fully interested in Quidditch or flying. It's neat to watch, I'll give you that, and I'll definitely come watch, it's just not my thing.

Oh, okay.

It's, well, because he's...he reminds me of...Sirius, and I don't know if I can just go ask Sirius' brother for help like that, especially when he might be different than Sirius but still look like him and that makes no sense whatsoever, but I...I don't know....

Good luck. In the meantime, I'll see if I can work out the charms. Unless he wants to trade a bloody peacock for that too

Only the once, then? Davis seems to be giving me a hard time lately. Not quite sure what I make of that yet.
