River figured that she understood enough, because she understood enough to know to ask Mal and Zoe first. She meant absolutely no disrespect to either and, if either had said no, she would've chosen something else. However, when Zoe understood and agreed, River opened the closet door a little more and faintly smiled up at her.
"Thank you." She glanced over as the puppy finally started to edge away from the bed. Simon had wanted a puppy that would help, at least a bit, when she was in a bad mindset. It wasn't used to it or her yet, but it was a calm personality and was trying in some form. The puppy stopped close to Zoe's feet.
