"Magical children are all allowed to go to a school where they can learn to use their magic for good, practical purposes in life. Once there, children are divided into different 'houses' based on their personality attributes to figure out where they would be among people of like temperament. While the houses interact, people in the same house all stay in a particular area of the castle the school is housed in. They eat together. They have classes together, or mixed with a group of the same year from another house. One of the houses there is - well, was - almost exclusively purebloods. Even growing up, it was a present and ongoing matter." Tracey shrugged. "Some people here are from a time period after me, and supposedly that goes away a bit, but - it's pretty well inescapable to have a conflict of some sort over magic and non-magic things coexisting."
