Who: Siri Tachi and Obi-Wan Kenobi
What: Siri is bringing Obi-Wan lunch at the police station
When: Late afternoon on Wednesday
Where: the police station, to start?
Rating/Warnings: Low, probably, with a touch of Star Wars style language.
Status: incomplete/in-progress

Siri brushed her hair back off her face as she stood at the bottom of the steps leading up to the police station, the small basket of food clutched tightly against her chest. Somehow she’d decided to bring Obi-Wan lunch. It just... seemed right. And she wanted to. She wanted to see him. (Of course, she always wanted to see him.) She wasn’t nervous, exactly, but this was the first time she’d done anything like this, and the first time she’d gone to Obi-Wan’s place of work. She wanted to make a good impression on his co-workers. For him. It was... important to her. Because he was important to her.

So she brought him lunch dressed as nicely as she could manage, in a warm winter coat and a suit, her heels tapping against the steps as she made her way into the police station.

Obi-Wan was studiously filling out paperwork when he felt a familiar presence near. He looked up to be greeted by the sight of Siri walking towards him in a manner of dress he'd not yet seen on her and an odd look from the officer showing her to his desk, with a glance torn reluctantly from the stunning blonde to raise an unconvinced eyebrow at Obi-Wan. He only frowned slightly at his coworker before shifting his gaze to his guest as he stood.

"Siri," he said as she approached. Her presence felt warm. Fond. But he couldn't tell her intentions. He could tell, however, that she was not here because something was wrong...but, then, why would she come? "What...brings you here?" People didn't generally come to the police station on happy occasions and Obi-Wan, of all people, did not get visitors.

Her smile lit up her face as she crossed the remaining space between them, leaning forward to press a gentle kiss to his lips. She didn’t linger, even though she wanted to, but the hand not nervously clenched around the handle of the basket cupped his cheek briefly before she pulled away from him.

“I, um. Wanted to bring you lunch,” she told him. She’d wanted to make him something... familiar. Something from their world, not the one they’d found themselves in. The results were contained in the basket she held out to him, alongside another ryshcate.

"Lunch?" How unexpected. He glanced at the basket. "Oh. Oh, thank you." He took the basket. "There's a...a room for lunch. Do you have time to join me?"

Her eyes were bright as she nodded. “Of course.” She hadn’t wanted to assume he would want her to stay, but she had... hoped.

"Ah. Good. Um, this way." He ushered her through the squad room, frowning at a constable who was very obviously looking at her legs as they passed his desk. He closed the lunch room door behind them and set the basket on the table.

She would have the choice to sit across from him or beside him.

Now that the door was closed, and they were alone, she reached out, taking his hand and drawing him to her for a more lingering kiss. Still appropriate and proper for being in public, even though they were alone for the moment, but allowing herself the lingering she hadn’t by his desk.

There was no question where she would sit. Beside him, always beside him.

The fact that she wanted to kiss him - and often - still made butterflies flutter in his stomach and he returned the kiss, leaning into her for that moment before it broke and then he moved to sit. He looked at the basket, not seeking to open it and steal the presentation from her, though he was curious.

"What brought this on?" he asked.

She sat down beside him, her shoulder touching his. She was as close as she could be for the time being, and she reached for his hand, her fingertips brushing his briefly. The answer to his question was... complicated. And she wasn’t sure if she should tell him all of it. She wasn’t sure if she wanted him to know. With Mara’s help, she was doing better with handling the emotions Helena’s flirtation had brought up in her. But telling him... she wasn’t sure it was something she could do yet. But she needed to. She thought she needed to. But those emotions weren’t the only reason she brought him lunch. She didn’t want him to think that.

“I just... I wanted to see you.” She wanted to be honest with him about it, about how she had felt when she'd read the note Helena had sent with the flowers... but she was afraid. Telling him... scared her. And even though Mara had told her that what she had felt was nothing to be ashamed of... it was difficult not to be.

She hated this. For star’s sake, she was supposed to be braver than this. “I was... jealous, Obi-Wan. When I found out Helena had... flirted with you. And... afraid.” Kriff, she felt so stupid, saying it out loud. Saying it out loud to him.

She would mostly see and feel confusion from him. "Jealous? Why? Because you don't...flirt in that way? I'm sure she could teach you if you wanted to know, though I don't see why it would be necessary..."

She laughed softly, shaking her head. Oh, Obi-Wan. She loved him so much. “No. Because she was flirting with you.” Her voice was soft, even though they were alone and there was no one else there to hear her.

"Oh." He shifted his weight in his seat. "Well. It was mostly uncomfortable," he told her truthfully.

His words helped ease some of the lingering fear, and worry. It wasn’t that she’d actually thought he’d enjoy it... but she’d been afraid that he would. And that fear, coupled with the realisation that their decision to accept attachments meant he could very well find someone else more suited to him than her to... become deeply attached to, and the jealousy... had led to and been a part of a riot of emotions that she hadn’t quite known what to do with.

She reached out to take his hand, tangling her fingers with his. “I should have been here. I’m sorry.” The apology came easily, even though she never apologised, even though she hated apologising. Because she’d left him. Again. It had been something relatively harmless this time; not a ghost flinging her into a crumbling tower or anything physically harmful. But she’d still... left. Been someone other than herself, even if she’d still been a younger version of herself.

"You didn't get to choose," Obi-Wan pointed out. "Helena wasn't herself either."

“I know.” She didn’t blame Helena for it; she couldn’t. She’d been just as affected as Siri herself had been. Yes, the flirting bothered her, but Helena herself didn’t. Well, Helena as she was, didn’t. It didn’t change how much the flirting bothered her, the emotions it had made her feel. And it didn’t change how much she hated not having known him.

That this place could change her so easily, even temporarily... it made her not want to waste a moment.

He shrugged. "There's nothing for you to be upset about." He looked at the basket. "What did you bring?"

Suddenly a little nervous again, she busied herself with opening up the basket and beginning to unpack the contents. “Something from our world. I wanted,” her smile was surprisingly shy, “I wanted to bring something a little more... familiar, for lunch.” And she knew that Obi-Wan wasn’t as adventurous as she was when it came to food. So she made things they knew.

"Really?" He lifted his head to try and see what she had in the basket. "Where did you get the ingredients?" He rarely ventured outside the castle for food.
