Stahma gave a nod and prepared Ukitake's tea strong. She then took the cup and handed it to him, listening as he spoke about Kaien and his wife. Stahma knew what battle was like, though she herself had never fought. Datak had always done the fighting to protect her and their son, at least until Alak grew old enough to fight as well.
"I do not see how any of that is your fault. Did you not go with Kaien or at least follow him to help?" Stahma wondered where Ukitake held the blame in this. Unless he did absolutely nothing in the situation, then it wasn't his fault. Though Stahma understood honor. "It was Kaien's right and choice to fight for the honor of his wife. That should not be something you carry the blame for. There is nothing worse than having honor tarnished." Being from an honor-based society and having betrayed her husband, Stahma knew the value of it better than most people could comprehend.
