Anakin would be just as upset if Obi-Wan had pulled something like that – even though Anakin thought he could take the trials starting at about age sixteen. It was the lack of consideration for his feelings that would hurt the most.

“But all I knew was you didn’t want me around and then suddenly you’re my Master because you made a promise to someone else… You said you hoped I never thought you didn’t want me- I’m sorry, I can’t say I never thought that.”
