Myka blinked at the phone in her hand.
I love you.
Three little words that made Myka’s heart leap, heat shoot straight to her cheeks and pool in her abdomen, and sound muffle like she had cotton balls stuffed in her ears. And made her eyes fixate on the screen of her phone.
Three little words.
And suddenly this new age advancement in communication, as miraculous as it was in keeping friends, family – loved ones – connected in the instant your fingers touched the buttons, wasn’t enough for Myka. It slipped from her hands to the couch. She needed more - something surpassing personal.
And she was up, walking with determined, long strides to the door. She was opening the door, turning towards Helena’s door. And then she was there, in front of that wood, knocking.
