Padmé smiled at the mention and, after seemingly getting the approval from Grappler, she stroked the cat on the head a few times before moving to join Helena at the table. "I think, for Ani, tolerating the happiness she brings me is a case of having 'grown on him.' It's nice to have a consistent companion who, no matter what oddities are thought up, is happy and around. So I can't, and wouldn't, object to her wanting more attention."

After Padmé sat down, she added with no small hint of amusement, despite the fact that it was a small dig at herself, "Though Sonja has been less than thrilled that she's starting to have a little competition for my lap."

Padmé had been taking care of herself, rather than living the constant "go" life of a Galactic Senator that she would during her pregnancy with Luke and Leia. Workaholic nights of little sleep, high stress, and all such habits couldn't and hadn't been indulged in the Land of Make Believe. As a result, she was more of the healthy and expected size for a pregnant woman that was half way through her pregnancy. Padmé didn't need to live through that pregnancy to know what habits she would keep up with and, given the outcome, she knew that she had to take caution to be reasonable and set limits.

"A little sugar, please." Padmé asked her hostess politely, then added. "And thank you, again, for having me over for tea."
