Helena Wells-Quinzel is H.G. Wells ([info]indelibleink) wrote in [info]makebelievelog,
Having company for tea was something Helena enjoyed. Even when drinking tea was an every day occurrence for her, Helena still savored each and every time she had it. Being British notwithstanding, Helena did take her tea very seriously. It served to help her wake up in the morning, much as a cup of coffee might do for others. It also helped her to relax, and was even just something to drink when she would stay up all hours of the night writing.

Truthfully, this should have happened sooner. Helena had never gotten to talk to Padmé in depth, but better late than never. And with them both having someone they loved and cared about sent home recently, now was perhaps a really good time to talk. At least this time the topic wouldn't solely be about the younger Helena and how she was adjusting after the horrible news Helena had given her. This time they could just talk and get to know each other a bit better.

When the knock came, Helena headed to the door, keeping one eye on Grappler as the cat's head perked up. While Grappler wasn't known for being an escape artist, Helena wasn't wanting to take the chance of having to chase a cat through the castle. Striding to the door and clad in dark blue jeans and a blue blouse, Helena opened it, smiling upon seeing Padmé on the other side.

"Hello, please come in and make yourself comfortable." At least now, the smile wasn't forced, it was genuine. Even though she still wore her engagement ring on her finger, she could at least bring herself to be social and not feel like she had to put on a face to appear okay. The Victorian woman was still far from okay, but she was better than she had been.
