Gwen had been a little more nervous than she had originally though she would be to hang out with Peter again. It was supposed to be a chill afternoon of spending time with a friend, and visiting a dragon. But then her talk with Darcy changed things. Both Darcy and Olive had been Gwen's confidants when it came to Peter. They knew everything, including her feelings for him. But it was Darcy who successfully got Gwen to promise to at least talk to the boy about it. Gwen was afraid Peter wouldn't reciprocate, and if he didn't, things would get awkward all over again. It wasn't easy before. He had a new girlfriend, a new life. Gwen felt in the way before. She tried to give him the space he needed and just move on. As long as he was happy, she was fine with the separation. But now things were different. They had started over as friends and spent more time together than Gwen had expected to. It was nice. But it didn't exactly make those feelings go away. If anything they made them stronger.
She packed some raspberries and blueberries in a plastic bag for Peter to feed Titania, and headed over to Peter's room. The entire walk over to the tents by the caves was spent in polite talk and Gwen's stomach turning into knots. Maybe she couldn't go through with it. It wouldn't really be that bad if she backed out, would it?
When the topic turned to the Heroes for Hire, Gwen smiled at Peter. "Yeah?" she said. "That's good. At least you won't be alone now. Do you like it?" Gwen was relieved to hear that. Although the Land of Make Believe was a different place from New York, it didn't mean that Peter wouldn't get into scrapes. And Gwen would always be there to help him if he still wanted her around. But at least there were others like him that could relate and understand Peter on the same level.
They reached the smaller, more portable facility set up outside a very large cave. In the cave was a family of dragons, but that wasn't where Gwen was going to take Peter. He needed to start small, like she did. So instead, she led him instead one of the tents. There, a co-worker she trusted was watching over Titania and a few other baby dragons. These babies were there because some were born too early and needed the extra care, or others, like Titania, were there to be studied.
Gwen took Titania from the co-worker and moved to sit on the tent floor with Peter. The co-worker headed out to tend to older dragons. Gwen placed the small dragon on the floor of the tent between them. "This is Titania," said Gwen.
