Reg’s plan was really quite simple. It combined two things that drove his adult self batty – clutter and the repletion of nonsense. Reg had long understood that, while his adult self said and did seemingly ridiculous things, they were, when taken in context of the doer, highly logical. Reg also knew his adult self was a hypocrite and couldn’t stand things done by others he found to be illogical, no matter how much they made sense to the person doing them. Which was perfect for the young magician.
He had six large plastic cups before him on the counter, all half full with water. Well, one was a bit fuller than the others and Reg quickly solved that by taking a drink from it.
Now, all the cups were more or less filled the same amount.
He tried gathering them all together to carry back to his quarters but it was quickly apparent that he wouldn’t be able to carry all six of these glasses easily. He did some mental evaluating and decided in this endeavor magic was necessary. He took out his wand and charmed the cups to levitate, and then added an extra spell to make them follow him.
Satisfied, he turned around and began walking towards the kitchen doors with a very self-congratulatory, smug expression on his face. He would say this was one of his more clever ideas.
Just before he reached the doors, however, they swung wide, issuing a person with bright, bubble-gum pink hair, who, from Reg’s perspective, came tumbling towards him in a manner much like a spinning pinwheel. She crashed into him, and they fell towards the ground. Which wouldn’t have been so bad if it weren’t for the cups of water floating right behind them, through which their trajectory took them crashing.
The cups, disturbed in their lazy flight, upended over the falling pair, dousing the two sprawled persons completely with water.
From the ground, a drenched Reg muttered, “Ahhhh, this is what hubris is.”
He then tried to assess the other person, “Uhh, are you okay?”
