Who: Darcy Lewis, Jane Foster, Gwen Stacy
What: Meeting of the minds - and free alcohol and food
When: (backdated) Sunday, December 30, 2012
Where: Castle entrance, then the Roadhouse
Rating/Warnings: Maybe swearing, will update if necessary
Status: In progress/Closed

Darcy wasn't really known for her forethought and deep planning. When it came down to it, she had never set a specific time for the three women to meet up nor had she said where. Jane had never been the the Roadhouse and she had no idea if Gwen had.

Around 5, Darcy realized her mistake and got into something appropriate to wear (jeans, t-shirt, cute hoodie, jacket) and made her way to the front castle entrance. She sent a text to both Jane and Gwen while she walked down the castle halls.

>> Meet up at castle entrance in 20-40 mins to go to the Roadhouse?

Darcy sat down shortly after reaching the entrance and starting playing around on her smartphone. She mostly read gossip websites and fluff-journalism dribble, but it amused her. It also meant she was there and ready, should either woman show up early, and she could do the basic introduction rather than have them meet up on accident.

Gwen was reading about dragons in the library, studying up for her new job at the dragon research center when she received Darcy's text. She set aside her book and replied:

>>Sure thing!

Gwen left her books where they were, deciding to return to her studies later. She returned to the rooms she shared with Darcy, grabbed her wallet and trench and headed down to the front entrance.

When she saw Darcy sitting on the floor, Gwen waved at Darcy and smiled.

"Hey!" Gwen said.

"Hey! What have you been up to?" Darcy looked up at her roomie with a grin, turning the phone and saying, "Apparently a bunch of people are upset over the movie 'Django Unchained' for potentially racist content, but they're arguing if it'd be considered racist if it were a black director instead of a white one."

"There's not much going on gossip wise online, so entertain me until Jane gets here." Darcy requested with an unabashed grin, not moving to stand up from her lazily picked spot.

Jane had a late start, as she had been wandering along the edge of the forest when Darcy sent the text and although she had replied relatively quickly, confirming the meet up point it had taken a little longer than she had anticipated to pull herself away from her curiosity surrounding the places around the castle.

When Jane started off, slipping down the snow covered hill and it was only as she neared the entrance of the castle that she started to wonder about what sort of attire for the Roadhouse, whatever it was as she wore jeans, a leather jacket and a plain shirt; nothing overly fancy or pretty and her boots were speckled with snow and mud.

Smoothing her hair down in an attempt to give herself a more kept appearance, Jane hurried to the doors that led inside and walked in. When she spotted Darcy and a platinum blonde, she moved towards them and gave a polite wave. "Sorry I'm late, Darcy. I got caught up outside. Is this your roommate?" She asked, glancing towards Gwen with a smile.

"This is! Gwen Stacy, the infamous Jane Foster. Jane, this is Gwen Stacy the awesome roomie. Behold, science people... shake hands and then we can go investigate the Roadhouse." Darcy pointed back and forth to the individuals she was talking about before turning her phone off and tucking it into her jacket pocket. She put her hand on the ground and pushed herself up, figuring it was finally time to stand up. Beside that, it gave the two a moment to exchange pleasantries with each other.

The Roadhouse was only a few blocks from the castle. It wasn't a long trip, so Darcy figured it wouldn't be much fuss for them to get there.

"Nothing much," replied Gwen. "Just catching up on some reading about dragons for my new job."

Gwen made a face at the Django comments. "I haven't actually seen the movie. Have you? I do know it's influenced by a 1966 film of the same name that was considered the most violent film made. But it was a white guy killing Mexicans. Would the critics have preferred he stuck to the original and did that?" Gwen sarcastically joked.

"Entertain, entertain..." Gwen tried to think of something interesting to talk about. But luckily Gwen didn't have to think too hard about something since Jane arrived just then.

Gwen turned and smiled at the woman, immediately offering her hand after Darcy did the introductions. "Hello, Jane! I've heard so much about you. You settling in alright?"

Unlike a number of other people in the area, Jane was rather comfortable in her surroundings. She certainly missed her laboratory, Erik's company and Earth in general however the current conditions more than appealed to her scientific side and for now searching for the truth was enough.

She continued to smile, reaching out to offer Gwen her hand after Darcy did the introductions. "Hello. I've heard about you too--according to Darcy you're rather into science?" She said, glancing between the two women and then back to Gwen.

"Thanks to Darcy I am. Really, if I arrived here not knowing anyone I don't know how I would manage... It's a very unusual place, this land, isn't it?"

"I am," Gwen answered enthusiastically. "I've done research in genetics, biology and biochemistry and the like. Your area is space, right?"

Gwen was happy to find another to talk science with. While being away from home was not ideal, the world wasn't as bad as she had expected. She wished she could answer the many questions she still had since arriving, but Gwen didn't have much hope to find those answers. Instead, she has focused on her new job and the new friends she had made.

"Yes it is. You don't have to tell me about how unusual this place can be. Have you been told about the random strange happenings yet? Brace yourself for those. Not too long ago I woke up with the ability to bedazzle everything in sight," Gwen shook her head. "But at least it was a harmless strange happening."

Gwen turned back to Darcy, "So, Roadhouse? I haven't been there yet. But free food sounds fantastic. Lead the way."

"Oh, yeah. And I could make people giggle or - something like that. Which really isn't much of a change from normal." Darcy joked in reference to Gwen's old sudden power gain and her own temporary power.

"Annnd - I went there with Buffy. Free food, free alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and there's kind of a bunch of magic-like stuff if you look around. I figure it should amuse us a little no matter what." Darcy went for the front door entrance with a giant grin on her face, more than prepared to lead the way and betting Jane would follow too. Darcy had no idea the meaning of the protective and anti-evil sigils and symbols on the wall, door frames made of iron, salt under the sills, and so on was. She just knew it all looked cool.

Jane had nodded at Gwen's question concerning her work. "Yes, I've been particularly interested in wormholes recently."

At the mentions of unusual happenings and powers, she simply looked at the two girl's as if they had just thrown ice water upon her. The idea that such a thing could actually happen was flabbergasting and she stood silent for a long moment, listening to them. Jane gave herself a mental shake and rocked back on her heels. "Really? That's very interesting..."

She meant to ask further questions but when Darcy started to move away, she decided to shelf her scientific wonders and instead started to follow after. "That sounds great!" She said, pausing briefly as they walked yet silence never lasted long with Jane and her question fell out rather abruptly.

"Do you two have a job here yet?"

"I love free things," Gwen said as she followed Darcy out the front door. She wanted to ask more about the magic stuff in The Roadhouse, but decided to wait and see for herself.

As they walked Gwen turned back to Jane, "Wormholes? That's very interesting! What specifically were you studying about them?"

Gwen nodded to Jane, "We both do. I work over at the Dragon Research Center studying the samples brought back by the research teams and Darcy works over at the Damage Den. Have you thought about where you might work?"

"I love how you manage to say 'Damage Den' and keep a straight face. I work at a place where people pay money to break things." Darcy added the last in for Jane with a big grin. "I had to get a job since I had no more internship to think about. I didn't really feel like going back to school again."

"And yes, Jane, do explain what we were studying in wormholes - and don't leave out Thor." Darcy remarked with raised eyebrows, looking over at her kind-of-boss/friend. Thor was hard to explain and she had yet to get a real explanation out of Jane as to what she thought about Thor.

"Dragons? That's fascinating." She did not consider right off that Gwen was serious about proper research being done on the creatures, rather investigating into the species itself and what it could have been if it were real. As unusual as the world was in itself, Jane had yet to fully grasp just how different it was from Earth. She had started to ask about Darcy's job, yet when her had-been-assistant elaborated, she could not help but laugh.

"That must be good to release stress, I imagine," She said, crossing her arms loosely as they walked, fingers pressing into the thick leather of the over large coat she wore at the mention of Thor.

"Well, I was looking for evidence of the existence of the Einstein-Rosen Bridge. Rather to finally prove that it was possible that there was something else, but I haven't been able to complete my research," She said pausing, and directed her attention to Darcy, waving at her slightly. "I don't know if she mentioned it, Gwen, but apparently a Norse God was dropped in the New Mexico desert during our research and after that, things became rather hectic and then..."

She waved again, towards the general area around them. "I was here. I hope to find work to allow me to continue my studies though."

"Yeah," nodded Gwen at the mention of dragons. "I've seen plenty of strange things back home. I assisted in research on cross-species genetics. I was a little nervous at first about the dragons. And, while I don't exactly plan on being a member of the field teams any time soon, the research and labwork is nice."

Gwen placed her hands in her trench pock and shrugged at Darcy's comment. There were so many more stranger things in this place than a specific place where people paid to break things.

"Darcy did mention something," Gwen offered after listening to Jane explain her research and Thor. "But, it's nice to have another confirm it. So, does this mean that gods exist or something? Or just the Norse gods? Or are they not actually gods but just an alien race that the Vikings decided to base their gods around?"

She stopped walking after a moment, "Er...sorry if I ask way too many questions at one time. Darcy can confirm for you that I tend to do that. Just stop me if I get too much."

"A ripped, Pop-tarts loving, slightly - mentally off Norse god. Or Norse alien god? I guess they are kind of aliens." Darcy admitted with a shrug, though her mental image of aliens generally consisted of the cliche that included green skin, big eyes, flying saucers, and antennas on the head.

"And Jane is used to me as her assistant. If there was too many questions, I'd be in trouble." She only paused briefly before adding, "Or - more trouble than usual."

Jane laughed, giving a slight shake of her head when Gwen apologized and it was after Darcy spoke, that she did as well, "She's right, really. It's fine though, Gwen, asking questions is a sign of a healthy mind or so I've been told. I tend to dig much deeper than ordinary people as well, so I more than understand."

She had stopped moving as well, shifting in place so that she had a better view of the two women. "I don't think either. Perhaps to us they're aliens, but on their world they likely believe themselves to be something else. Earlier on when we met Thor, Darcy pointed out that the vikings likely worshiped them as deities whether they actually were or not, I'm hoping to find out someday," She said, pausing slightly and then gave a slight shrug. "If they exist though, I wouldn't put too much against others being a reality either."

Gwen made a face at Darcy's description of Thor. She had never really pictured a norse-god as a Pop-Tarts loving type of guy. Ripped and mentally-off on the other hand wasn't really much of a surprise.

"Thanks," Gwen said to both Darcy and Jane concerning her questions. It was nice to be around people who did not find this particular trait of hers too annoying.

"That's a little...unsettling to be honest," Gwen considered what other aliens would look like. Like Darcy, she had considered them to be those from War of the Worlds and the like. But knowing Thor was as he was pictured in the mythology books, Gwen began to reconsider her perspective of aliens. But, while lizards and other creatures in New York was one thing, aliens arriving to Earth was another matter altogether.

"You should do more research here," Gwen suggested. "It would be interesting if you could recreate some of that in this world. Maybe they could even pay you for the research."

"Hey, he did eat all of the Pop-Tarts. And he was ripped. Like, super hot ripped." Darcy answered back at Gwen's face, guessing her response was in regards to one of those two aspects. She doubted it was over the fact that he was kind of mentally off; anyone who had been worshiped as a god likely had some sort of god complex or ego issues, in all likelihood.

"Unsettling - a regular Tuesday around here." Darcy paused and nodded. "And yeah, Gwen's right. You should try... though you should probably leave the 'alien god of thunder' part out of the description. Or maybe it'd be a good selling point..."
