Who: The Lilys, adult and younger What: Ickle Lily gets cursed When: This morning Where: Lily's rooms Rating/Warnings: Ickle Lily is harmed by cursed hair ties
“Lily, can you put this in my hair?”
Lily the elder was sitting on the sofa, reading a book. They had just returned from breakfast and Lily the younger was excitedly moving about, getting ready to go find her friend and play outside. And setting down the book Lily could see that apparently that included putting some brightly colored beribboned hair ties in the younger girl’s hair.
The adult smiled and took the proffered hair brush and ties. The younger immediately spinning around to present the back of her head for parting.
“These are pretty,” a few quick brushes and Lily was parting the girls hair to put in one tie. “Where did you get them?” Thinking that someone had given the girl the ties, perhaps Tonks, or even young Severus – though where he got them would be a mystery.
“Oh, I got them from some gardner- ouch!”
“Sorry, hon,” Lily the older said, “I didn’t mean to snag your hair.” She set the brush down to put in the last other tie.
The younger Lily’s hand came up to pull on the tie.
“No, it’s this-”
“I’ll help you,” she’d just finished setting the second tie and move over to adjust the first, trying to give it a gentle tug. And oddly the thing wouldn’t budge.
It took the span of Lily the younger beginning to cry for Lily the elder to know something was horribly wrong. The tie wasn’t coming out. It wouldn’t move, almost as if it were…
“Ouch, it hurts! It’s hot!” The younger Lily was trying to pull on the ties herself, but quickly withdrew her hand, exclaiming how her fingers were burned. Lily the adult noticed that now too, when she tried to touch the things she felt a searing pain in her fingers. And then there was the smell of burning hair and smoke…
Oh Merlin!
“James!” Lily shouted, “Get in here right now!”
Her wand was out the next instant, and instead of waiting for James she conjured a pair of scissors and cut at just under the ties – short hair was better than a burned flesh.
