OMFG! Anakin might do ~something~ *pearl clutch* ([info]darkforcerising) wrote in [info]makebelievelog,
Anakin waited in main lobby of Chemistry department’s building. Being a faculty of the Mechanical Engineering department this was not his usual haunt. When he’d arrived a few moments before he’d passed a few graduate students on their way out for the evening and he had endured their suspicious and hard looks. Most of the students in this building were not in any of his classes; however, he’d already established a reputation throughout the college for his knowledge of the subject he taught, his unforgiving classroom command, and for the odd sartorial habit of always wearing a black glove over his right hand. (And for his terrible penmanship, but that hardly sunk through the Jedi arrogance wrapped around his mind to register with him). Needless to say, a few here knew him on sight.

The dark looks weren’t for his stern teaching habits, however. He was in enemy territory. He was aware, that while both his and the chemistry departments were part of the greater college of Science and Mathematics, all departments rivaled with each other, over, what Anakin had best guessed were funding issues. The University only had so many resources, and each science lab had specific, and expensive, needs. He found the whole enmity juvenile and petty, but, due to his Jedi training and adherence to the strictures of no possessions, he was removed from the heat of the conflict, for he staked few personal expectations on the acquisition of more funding for his department.

He hadn’t been waiting for long when Helena arrived. Soaking wet. He raised a querying eyebrow at her present state. “Is the All Wet Look an Earth fashion?” he joked.

But he was a man who preferred, when there was a task at hand, to conduct all conversation whilst still moving. “The better equipped labs are this way.” He pointed in the direction they needed to go, and then lead Helena down a series of corridors lined on either side by student labs (the kind filled with the equipment only Freshmen uninterested in taking more than the general education required science classes would get to see) and that ended in a heavy, security locked door.

As he had said before, this wasn’t an official visit.

“Everything from here on requires a preprogramed key-card to access,” he said when they reached the checkpoint. He, as it turned out, did not have a faculty badge that was programed to work in this part of this building, however, that was hardly an obstacle for someone of his particular talents. He need only reach out through the Force and the mechanism that secured the door from intrusion became crystal clear in his mind, he knew just what to nudge with the right amount of the Force and the door latch clicked. They had access.

He pushed the door open and held it for Helena to walk through.
