"I'm not saying it wouldn't take a lot of work, because it's not like last time. There aren't any spare parts in a junk pile I can just dig though. Not close by anyways," young Ani was saying to the blue and white droid rolling at his heels. "And I would have to compromise and probably use an internal combustion engine-"
The droid, only about a head and a half shorter than the young boy, Anakin had yet to hit that first growth spurt that would foreshadow the height he would eventually reach, cut in with a series of disparaging twitters.
Ani had been turning around a corner when he had to stop short - so quickly R2-D2 didn't have a chance to notice and the droid bumped into the back of his legs with a rude beep for the mistake.
Anakin had stepped out into the path of one of the tallest humans he'd ever seen. The boy had to crane his neck back to take the man all in from such a close position. Ani looked at him in awe. How could he not?
"Sorry, I didn't mean to cut you off," Anakin said hastily, and then stepped back and to the side out of the man's way, trying to push R2-D2 back as well.
