Helena Wells-Quinzel is H.G. Wells ([info]indelibleink) wrote in [info]makebelievelog,
Perhaps more than anything else, Helena was resilient. She was far more resilient that she gave herself credit for, but she was alive and still standing after she'd been broken and torn apart by life. How she was even still standing was a complete and utter mystery to her, but she did know that Myka was part, if not all, of the reason for her willingness to keep fighting despite everything. Deep inside, she was tired of being a fighter, tired of trying to live only to have life throw her yet another obstacle to break her soul, or even kill her. Love was certainly the most powerful motivator a person could have. That was what had prompted Helena to sacrifice herself for the greater good, that was why she'd smelled apples again. And now, being not only alive but in a strange world that she needed to try to understand, she had love to ground her, to keep her fighting when things seemed to become too overwhelming for her.

So when Myka looked her in the eye, Helena could tell she was listening to her. And now that she knew the younger woman loved her in return, Helena would never stop fighting for her. She would never just let Myka go. The Victorian woman knew that if she lost Myka now, after this, it would surely kill her. And now when she finally had a reason to live, Helena wasn't giving it up. She'd fight to the death for Myka. When she heard her lover's whisper, the Victorian woman nodded. "I promise. Whether you like it or not, you are rather stuck with me for all eternity. I will never let you go, love." Helena kept her gaze locked on Myka's, a deep truth reflected in her own eyes along with the depths of her love for the woman in front of her. She gently stroked Myka's hair with one hand.
