Myka Ophelia Bering ([info]beringandwells) wrote in [info]makebelievelog,
Myka nodded in confirmation to the question. Once they were to safety she would tell the story of how they'd managed to shelve Rheticus' Compass. But as they were currently in danger she held off on bringing up the story. Handing the compass over to Helena she began looking around for someplace to sit the bomb down. They only had a few minutes left before it went off and she wanted it as far away from them as possible lest it counteracted them getting the compass to work. As she looked around for a place to set it she began recalling all the rules for using the compass. It had been awhile since she had laid eyes on them. Nearly 3 years since that day when she'd gotten a chance to look over the notes that Joshua had transcribed from the artifact.

Just as she noticed a place a bit aways she recalled how one activated the compass and the rules that went along with it. "Helena, open the compass and spin the needle. Once you do that be ready to spin the needle in the secret panel on the bottom at a 90 degree angle." Myka said and began walking in the direction of where she would place the artifact bomb. By the time she got back she hoped Helena would have done what she said and they'd be able to teleport out of the Warehouse. Sure the Warehouse would be destroyed but once they were safely outside the barrier and to safety they could begin to come up with a solution. Artie and Pete would arrive back in a couple of hours and they'd all regroup and strategize. It was what they did. Setting the artifact bomb down on the shelf, Myka began her walk back over to Helena. What she didn't expect was to catch her leg on the edge of one of the artifacts sitting precariously close to the edge of the shelf. Just as Helena activated the compass she fell to the ground landing on her ankle. As she hit the ground she felt the sharp pain go through her leg. She'd crushed one or two bones in her foot of that she was certain. There was no way that she would make it in time to be teleported out with her. She could barely move the pain was so intense. Looking over at Helena she shouted, "go." Myka wasn't going to let Helena stay behind just because she hadn't been watching how close she was to the shelves. No, the Victorian agent needed to get to safety and find a way to fix everything. Myka heard the bomb timer come to an end and bent her head down and shut her eyes bracing herself for the blast.
