Had she lifted her head she would have noticed Helena's gaze as it stalled on her chest. But Myka kept her gaze on their clasped hands. By actually seeing her own hand entwined around Helena's, she was able to continue to push away her doubts. Doubts that this wasn't going to last. That Helena would be ripped from her again. Myka knew that if the Victorian woman were to die or be taken by the Regents that she would lose it. Their relationship had begun at gun point and moved to friendship and understanding. Helena's betrayal while it had driven her from the Warehouse hadn't changed anything. Myka understood the reasoning behind her motives but only wished that Helena had been more open to letting them help her. She hadn't been lying when she had said that she'd believed in her. The double meaning behind it had been that she'd always believed in her. Losing Helena again had the potential to be the catalyst to make her leave the Warehouse for good this time. It didn't matter that the Warehouse was her happiest place on earth.
When Helena spoke Myka finally looked up. Helena had spoken precisely what was going through her mind. Before the explosion at the Warehouse Helena had only been in her body for a short period of time. Prior to that existing solely as a holographic image. It had pained Myka every time she had seen the hologram knowing that she couldn't reach out and touch her. The subtle touches that usually happened when they would stand side by side. Pete's incessant taunting of Helena had been like tiny knives piercing her heart. No doubt mirrored in what Helena herself was feeling at his remarks. "Well, you can touch me all you want."
It took a few moments for what she said to truly register in her head. But once it had her cheeks showed signs of blushing. She hadn't meant to speak precisely what was on her mind but the response had slipped out before she could stop it. The hand that had been clasped tightly in Helena's pulled away and moved to the locket around her neck. It had become an almost subconscious response. As her hand rested on it she realized what it was. Wearing the locket had become second nature but as much as she had grown attached to having it, Helena deserved to have it back. Slipping the chain over her head she held it in her hands rubbing her thumb across it. Her intention had always been to return it to Helena but things had happened so quickly. When all was said and done her only thoughts were to protect the locket and the memory of Christina. In a whisper Myka said aloud, "I kept you safe but now its time your mom has you back."
