Myka Ophelia Bering ([info]beringandwells) wrote in [info]makebelievelog,
No words had been spoken between them save for when Helena had opened the door. But words weren't needed in their case. A simple touch and look could convey more than words ever could. Which is why when Helena had picked up her hand and placed it against her heart she got the message loud and clear. It was as if the words had been spoken to her, I'm alive, darling. Almost subconsciously her fingers flexed against where they rested on Helena's chest. Myka couldn't help the swell of emotions that was stirring inside of her. For so long she had wanted to reach out and be able to touch the Victorian woman. But it was impossible to touch a hologram. Their contact had been scarce once the affects of the Janus Coin had been reversed. And then all too soon Helena was gone. Giving her life to save theirs. But Myka knew that Helena's sacrifice while saving Pete and Artie was more about saving her. She'd seen it in the woman's eyes in those last few minutes. For sure, the body sitting next to her that her hand rested against was real. Figments of ones imagination would not feel as real as she did. Hearts would not beat as strongly as hers was.

Myka continued to stare into Helena's eyes. The emotions that she could see playing out behind them no doubt mirrored in her own. Her eyes serving as an open book into her soul that only Helena could decipher. The one agent who knew her so well and knew precisely what she wanted to say but couldn't find the words. Bering and Wells a partnership that had been through the hell and had endured.

When she saw the tear slip down Helena's cheek Myka couldn't stop herself from taking her free hand and using her thumb to wipe it away. No hesitation in her movements. When the tear was wiped away Myka couldn't bring herself to remove her hand. She rested it there and stroked the side of Helena's face. Ready to catch anymore tears that fell. After a few moments she moved her hand and it went to rest against the locket around her neck. With a voice filled with emotion she spoke her first word since entering the room, "Helena."
