Now Helena wasn't sure what was more shocking, that the Regents allowed her to maintain her freedom or that Artie had pleaded on her behalf. Blinking in confusion, she ate the rest of the chocolate Claudia had given to her. "Artie defended me? I didn't think I would live to see the day when he did anything for me." No doubt it was because she'd sacrificed herself to save them that he had done that, but even so, Helena still found it weird to think that Artie held a good opinion of her. Good enough, it seems, to ask her to find a dagger for him. That was not a turn of events Helena would have ever expected, knowing how vocal Artie had been against her. "I hope that we are able to save him."
Now Helena was focusing on that breathing thing, to try and get her color back so that she could stand up again. "Well that is certainly handy. No doubt I shall pay frequent visits to the library in that case."
For the moment, she would be pausing in her asking questions. She needed to properly digest what Claudia had just told her about the future awaiting them back home. Well all right, just as she was going to allow herself to digest things, another burning question occurred to her and she couldn't let it wait. "So how does this work, exactly, with us being here? Does time back home simply freeze or what?" Leave it to the time-traveling Victorian woman to ask that question.
