Helena Wells-Quinzel is H.G. Wells ([info]indelibleink) wrote in [info]makebelievelog,
The book titles Claudia gave her were pretty much meaningless to Helena. She had no clue what any of those were. She might've heard of Harry Potter in passing, but beyond that, she didn't have much of anything to go on. She'd missed so much literature while she'd been Bronzed. "Is there a library here? I have a feeling I need to brush up on the literature I missed during the 20th Century." Because that was the most logical question for someone to ask after being told they're fictional in this place. But this was H. G. Wells, she sometimes operated on her own definition of logical.

At hearing that Pandora's box hadn't survived, Helena set the tea pot down before she dropped it, her face become quite ashen. She knew what that meant. And worse yet, hearing that it was Magellan's Astrolabe that had been used caused her skin to pale even further. Leaning against the counter, she gripped the edge of it to keep herself from falling down. "The Astrolabe," she repeated in barely a whispered tone. This was too much to take. She'd died to save Myka, Pete and Artie, and for what? To throw them into a world where hope no longer existed because Pandora's box had been destroyed in the blast? There was a distant look in her eyes as she was trying to piece this information together, of how the 'evil' of the Astrolabe could be undone without undoing the saving of the Warehouse.

Helena needed to sit down before she fell down. But she didn't trust her legs to get her to a chair, so she just let herself slide down the counter until she was sitting on the floor. "How did Artie manage to get the Astrolabe from the Templars?" Yes, Helena had once done her research on time travel artifacts, and she'd tracked that one to the Templars, though by the time she'd gotten that far with locating it, it had been far past the 24 hours in which she'd needed it.
