Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:anakin skywalker, padme amidala

Who: Anakin and Young Padme
What: Padme is young, she has a blaster, she has no idea where she is but she knows how to use her weapon
When: Wednesday evening
Where: Their rooms
Rating/Warnings: Someone might get shot in the ass. Maybe?
Status: In progress/Closed

The day had been a long one, but not draining. Anakin was having far too much fun with the young versions of his son and his former master. Far more than Jedi decorum dictated. But he was Anakin Skywalker, the boy with a can-do attitude, often pointed in the direction of ‘how best to decimate the rules’. He would enjoy this whether the glaring memory of Mace Windu in his mind approved or not.

But it did, given the sweat soaking weather of this planet’s warm season, require a second shower in the evening, after training and before Padmé permitted him to be within any reasonable, desirable distance of her. She was quite insistent, and he was willing to comply. He ran a hand through his hair, shaking out excess water the towel had failed to absorb, and then tugged a t-shirt on over his head before heading back out into the common area between their two rooms.

She wasn’t in the area when he entered; the Force told him she was in her rooms. “Padmé, I’m clean, again,” he raised his voice enough so he knew she could hear him through the door and walls. And then he moved towards the couch to wait for her return, pulling out his phone to check the network. A force of habit he’d developed while living here.

Padmé Amidala had been attempting to retake the throne of Naboo one moment and, the next, found herself without any security (or anyone at all, for that matter) and in an unfamiliar room. After cautiously checking around, blaster at the ready, she had decided to go into the adjoining room to see if somehow the Viceroy was behind this pathetic trickery.

She was instead met with a call telling her, by name, that the other person was clean again. Eyebrows arching, Padmé only paused for a brief moment before cracking the door and peering through the cracked doorway. She was surprised to only find one human around. Despite lack of Neimoidian, she was confident that she could get answers between her blaster and her tongue.

Pointing it at the other man's skull, Padmé spoke out confidently and clearly. "No sudden movement. Explain to me what's going on. Is this some pathetic attempt by the Viceroy? The Queen will not bow to his demands due to him taking a handmaiden -"

As always, the Force was frustratingly silent when it came to matters of Padmé (save when she was dying, then Anakin was privileged to witness that in surround sound every sleeping hour). It was a bastard like, the Force was, no wonder its offspring was of similar temperament.

He turned around, not heeding Padmé’s caution to move slowly. This was Padmé after all, they had been sharing this space for weeks now, they had found a certain equilibrium with both adjusting to the idea of living with the other. And though her words sent off warning bells, there were no Viceroys in the Land of Make Believe, he couldn’t fully guess what was happening yet.

He could see the barrel of the blaster though, poking out through the cracked door. But he couldn’t see her, just her eye glaring at him. He quickly ran through all the possible ways he could have upset her (or angered her, or frustrated her, or any of those other variations of mad she claimed existed). His mind was drawing a blank.

“Padmé,” he said cautiously. He held his palms open, more preparing to block anything coming from that weapon than to show a willingness to comply with demands. Of course, when he’d left Master Obi-Wan’s lightsaber with his belt on a table in his bedroom in lieu of being comfortable for the evening he would have a weapon aimed at him.

“Why are you pointing that blaster at me?”

"I said no sudden movements!" Padmé made the calculated decision to come through the doorway, keeping it angled at her back so she was still mostly covered. She knew there hadn't been anyone in the room, but considering she had appeared there out of nowhere, she was suddenly feeling very cautious. There was no way the Neimoidians had found the technology to take a person from one spot to another without consent or trace. Had they done such, they wouldn't have sent her somewhere with one guard. Perhaps it was some strange delusion?

"I don't know how you know my name, but I want to know what's going on here. One moment I'm in the palace, the next - where is this place, even?" Padmé assumed, even if someone she wasn't having a delusion, they were still on Naboo. It was unfamiliar, all the same, as was the man in front of her. "And who are you?"

“Oh kriffing-” Anakin said when he was able to get a full look at what was supposed to be his future wife. Apparently that future was much further away for her than before. She looked at least ten years younger, if he remembered her outfit correctly. Of course she wouldn’t recognize him.

There was part of him that wanted to lament their separation of ages, but he pushed that part down, for later. Right now he had some explaining to do.

“You’re not Naboo anymore," he said eying that blaster, "you’re in the Land of Make Believe on a planet called Imagination.” Not for the first time did Anakin wonder at the sanity of those who had named this crazy place. How did they not realize how ridiculous and unbelievable the names sounded? “You do know me. It’s Anakin. I know this sounds difficult to believe, but I’m not lying.”

Padmé laughed, the entire thing sounding far too unbelievable for her to process. She had been in the process of saving her people. The teen had no idea what to make of the claim that she was suddenly on another planet named "Imagination." But when the man claimed himself to be Ani, that was the part that sealed her disbelief.

"You have got to be kidding me. Ani is a child - he has nothing to do with the the state of Naboo. Leave him out of this." In a brief moment, she moved her blaster's aim slightly to the right and pulled off to fire a shot. "And tell me the truth!"

Anakin could feel the ripples through the Force, whispering of what Padmé was about to do before she aimed her weapon and fired. He stilled himself, habit of training, so as not to flinch, though he did blink. The bolt hissed passed, just above his shoulder and hit the stone wall behind him, Anakin didn’t need to look back to know a small crater, blackened and smoldering, had blossomed were smooth stone once was moments before.

She just shot at him!

He’d known she was excellent with a blaster. And yes, she had fired so as not to hit him, just barely. And yes, he could have blocked the bolt with the Force had she aimed it at him. But still – she’d shot at him! His eyes went wide as he looked back at Padmé, and he clenched his jaw to still the flare up of frustration tinged disbelief.

He reached out his right, prosthetic hand, and using the Force, yanked the weapon out of Padmé’s hands. She’d shot at him after all. The thing zipped through the air to clanked against his metal palm as he caught it.

“You just shot at me!” He couldn’t not point that out, it needed to be said. “I am Anakin Skywalker,” he said again. “When we first met I asked if you were an Angel from Iego. And you’re wearing the Japor snippet I gave you.” He motioned with his hand towards his neck, “I can see the leather cord.”

Padmé's argument that he deserved it for lying about his identity, and using sweet little Ankin's as his stolen identity, when her blaster was taken away. Padmé was surprised, of course, when the blaster went flying out of her hands and into his. This man was a Jedi? Why was he cla-

"Ani?!" Padmé's jaw dropped at the realization that the young lad had been on the pathway to becoming a Jedi and, thus, this potentially made sense in some weird sort of way. Still, this didn't make sense. Even as he told her information that only they could've known, Padmé's mind was racing to figure out how this trick could've been pulled off. "This - no. Anakin Skywalker is - a little boy - and you're not. How could this be?" Padmé's hand strayed up to near her neck and she, a bit self-consciously, tucked the hint of visible cord back underneath the collar of her jacket.

“Padmé, I’m not lying to you. I would never lie to you.” He took a step forward, angling the blaster down and away from them. With the blaster in his hand, and no more threat of violence to be had, he relaxed significantly. “I came to say goodbye to you,” he tried for one more memory only they would know, “before being tested by the Jedi Council, because I thought I wouldn’t see you again.”

“I don’t know how this has happened, I’m sorry I cannot give you a better explanation. People arrive from all points in time.”

Padmé registered the statement that he would never lie to her, tucked away in the back of her mind, unsure what to make of it. Why would he never lie to her? Was there a detail she was missing?

"I was here, before, from a different point in time? So - my plan to retake the palace worked?" Padmé couldn't help but ask. It was a very pressing matter on her mind. More so than whatever her own personal discomforts, worries, or future held. She wanted to know that her people were safe.

She narrowed her eyes and stared for a moment more before, still incredulous, finally saying, "Ani?"

“Yes, you were able to regain control of your planet and stop the invasion,” Anakin answered. He saw no reason to withhold that information from her. They would either return to their point in time back home, or Padmé would return to the age she was before. Or there were a number of possibilities, when one lived in a place that could control your age and memories there was no telling what could happen next. But it was difficult thinking of all the possibilities, Anakin stuck with the ones that made the most sense to him.

“But, Viceroy Gunray managed to escape full sanctions for instigating the invasion of Naboo.” Anakin knew he shouldn’t feel some satisfaction that the Neimoidian’s fate would end on his blade, it would come at an unimaginable price, but he still felt it all the same.

Padmé felt a notable sense of relief at the news that she regained control of Naboo, but couldn't help but have some sense of disgust that the Viceroy escaped full sanctions. It wasn't professional, nor right, of her. But she was only human.

"Is there anything else -" Padmé paused, then thoughtfully asked, "Should I call you 'Master Jedi,' 'Master Skywalker' or-?"

Anything else...? How about our whole relationship, Anakin thought bitterly. But he stilled his tongue. It was clear that was information that wouldn't help Padmé right then, it would only assuage the Anakin's rising anxiety. And that wasn't important.

"We lost Master Qui-Gon during that battle." Anakin let that sink in. It was terrible news, and it tarnish the victory they had achieved that day.

"You do not need to address me by any title, you may simply call me Anakin, or Ani."

Padmé's face fell at the news, despite the fact she had been well aware that her plan held a risk that anyone could be injured or killed. Still, it was a death that she wouldn't have wished. Qui-Gon Jinn had been a good man, even if they had clashed at times.

"I - um, if you're sure." Padmé couldn't bring herself to add 'Ani' or 'Anakin' onto it, still. She wasn't used to the lack of formality with an adult who she should show respect to. "And - is this my room, then?" Padmé indicated back to the room she had just exited.

Anakin felt all that Padmé did over that news. Sometimes he wondered how his life would have turned out had Master Qui-Gon lived. Obi-Wan was his closest friend, but sometimes, he felt like what Obi-Wan could offer wasn’t what Anakin needed.

“I am sure,” he reaffirmed, not delving more on the topic of Qui-Gon’s death as Padmé didn’t say more. “And yes, those are your rooms. My rooms-” he turned, waving his hand to indicate the door to his rooms. He noticed how close that blaster burn was to the door and marveled that it had escaped a fiery death. “Are through that door.”

Padmé nodded. "Since I'm dressed like a handmaiden and no one knows better - hopefully I won't need the services of a Jedi. It's reassuring to know you're nearby though."

And with that, she moved to go back into her room for the time being. She wanted to give another look over the room. She left her door cracked ever so slightly; whenever Anakin was gone, she intended to sneak out to explore the place further.
