Elphaba had watching the whole thing from the window with an increasing amount of frustration and fear. She'd seen violence before, with the oppression that had gone with Oz. But that had been different. It had been sneaky, carried out in the dead of night with everyone looking the other way. She'd never seen anything like this before. And there wasn't even anything she could do with her lack of magic, so she was stuck here feeling completely useless. She was just considering calling Severus when there was a knocking at the door and a familiar voice and Elphaba found herself running to unlock and answer it.
"What are they?" She asked the moment she'd pulled the door open. Elphaba lifted herself onto her toes to peer over Jamie's shoulder and make sure none were coming up the corridor behind him. Then she reached out and wrapped her fingers around his wrist to try and pull him inside. "Are you alright?" she asked urgently.
