My friend Claudia said I should get in touch with you to have blood samples drawn. I assume you will also have questions about my current condition, and what I hope for the future.

My vampiric condition was caused by a mutation of tbe Corvinius virus. Alexander Corvinius became an immortal when he survived the virus that killed everyone else in his village. One of his sons was bitten by a bat and the virus mutated and he became the first vampire. I was given blood by Alexander, and am no longer exactly a vampire, although I still show some of the traits. I suppose you could say I am now a hybrid of some sort.

What I hope to discover from all this is if my current condition can be passed on through my blood. I am stronger and more immune to damage that would kill an ordinary vampire. I have the full benefit of the Corvinius immortality and healing powers without needing to consume blood, and without the sensitivity to sunlight.

As a man of medicine, you can see the obvious ramifications if a normal human were able to be infected with the combination of the two viruses I carry.

I should preface what I'm going to say with this: where I come from there are people born with abilities of a supernatural sort all because they have a mutation in their genes. We call them mutants. There are three at this castle.

I'm hoping that this strain is something akin to that because I have studied mutations of that sort before but their mutations are not like a disease or a virus. You can't catch it, but you are born with it. I'm not sure if there is a way to make your mutation behave that way but I'll do my best to find out everything I can about it and see what I can do for you, Selene.

I was not born a vampire. I was made one. Over the years I have made others by passing on my blood.

Although not a scientist myself, our researchers did isolate the vampire and werewolf strains of the virus. The different forms of the virus may well attach to our genetic material - only a theory, but vampires and lycans can regenerate from severe damage, but I was born as ordinary a human as anyone else from my time.
