Can I ask for your help with something, once again?

Of course. What is it, Castiel?

I am concerned for a friend.

He refuses to eat and... for now I don't want to press him too.

Is this a cut-and-dry case of anorexia, or is there something more complicated going on?

Depending on the severity of the problem and how long it's been going on, there are a few options. IV parenteral nutrients can help, but I'd be hesitant to suggest that for too long; the longer a patient goes without eating in a normal fashion, the harder it is to start again.

He is afraid to eat. He suffered a trauma.

I would like to work towards his eating but he cannot at this point. I believe he will eventually be able to if he can get beyond what happened to him.

Can you help him? He is Sam's brother.

I'm not a psychiatrist
Psychological anorexia is more difficult to treat than medical anorexia, especially without a counselor, but I'll do my best. I'll talk to the other doctor, Donald Blake, as well; he may have had more experience with disordered eating than I have.

Thank you, Simon. I also see he has befriended a young human of peculiar ability.

Support of people he trusts will be vital. It's good that he's making friends.

It is. His situation if grave but he has the help of my brother. I did not expect such gentleness from him.

Your brother?

The archangel Michael is sharing his body.

The what
Ah.

That would be who River was talking about.

...how does that work, exactly?

You were aware we need vessels to interact safely with humans?

Not until River brought it up. She was concerned, but your friend seems to have soothed those fears.

I take it your brother allows him to take control often enough that he's not losing muscle memory. Are there other physical considerations I should be aware of?

Adam seems to be in control more than Michael. Adam should not be damaged by Michael, his is easy on his vessels but Adam can tell you more precisely. I have never been a vessel, after all.

All right. An archangel can't help his own vessel?

I'll talk with Adam and with Dr. Blake, and we'll see what we can do.

Perhaps you should also talk to Andy Gallagher also. Adam's friend. Adam may be more responsive to someone he sees as an ally.

I'll need to talk to Adam and get his consent before I discuss his case with a non-medical person, but I'll take that under advisement. They're both here in the castle?

If that is required.

Yes, they are in the castle.

It's a part of the oath I took when I became a doctor. The situation is a little unconventional here in the castle, but I still try to be as discreet as possible with personal information.

You don't need to explain. It is Adam's condition. He should decide who knows about it. I understand.
