Notes

Good morning,

I was wondering if anyone here knows how to play rugby. If so, would you be interested in trying to get a game going (and/or attempting to train those of us who do not know how to play currently, but would like to learn, so that we
can have a game)?

Yours faithfully,

Ed (Room E33b)

What position? Would you be up for working out teams or sorting out training? What about cricket?

Right wing, usually. And sure! I have football practice after school on Tuesdays but apart from that I'm pretty free.

I played a bit of cricket, but not much. My school was more into Tennis.

Rugby Football. You have an oval-shaped ball, and two teams of fifteen players. The aim of the game is to get the ball over your opponent's goal line, either by scoring a try (where you carry the ball over the goal line and touch it to the ground) or a drop goal. If you score a try, you can then go for a conversion, which is when you try to kick the ball through the goalposts. You can kick the ball forward, but when you're throwing the ball, it has to go backwards. There are lots of other things involved, like line-outs and scrums and so on, but they're all far better explained in person. Interested?

I saw it on TV, but I wasn't really watching. I'm not really into sports. I know someone who might like to play.

I think rugby would be rather brilliant to watch on the television, especially the colour ones the castle has. Would you mind asking the person you know if they would be interested? Thank you very much.

That would be my boyfriend, Blaine. He is pretty athletic, and he would look great playing Rugby. I'll tell him.
