Sherlock? I've... just made a bit of an odd discovery.

And what might that be, John?

This girl asked me if I was named after "the detective stories". She then went on to tell me about the "famous Victorian detective" Sherlock Holmes and his companion Doctor Watson. Apparently, her favorite story is Hound of the bloody Baskervilles.

I've been in the library all morning, and I have actually found the novelisations of this 'Victorian detective'. I have to admit, his Watson is a marginally better writer.

We've just discovered we're apparently the subject of a load of 19th century novels and you're having a go at my writing?!

I thought it might help. You know as well as I that I'm not particularly adept at consoling anyone. And honestly, I would rather have found out that I was a Victorian character before an animated mouse detective, John.

I know, I'm just a bit-

animated mouse detective?

Yes, John. They turned the great Sherlock Holmes into an animated mouse name Basil. I've taken the liberty of checking out all items pertaining to the two of us and have brought them back to the rooms. I was just about to watch The Great Mouse Detective. Care to join me, Dawson?

The Great-

You know? Why not? I'll join you, Basil.

Would you care for a drink? I think I may need one.

Lovely. I believe we face off with the cunning Ratigan in this. Should keep me right on the edge of my seat.

Ratigan? He sounds... charming. I can't wait to find out what his villainous scheme is!

...I'd scold you, but I'm going to give you a bit of leeway tonight, Sherlock. I'll be in to watch the film as soon as I've finished raiding the kitchen downstairs for as much alcohol as I can fit under my jumper.

Probably something to the effect of 'take over the world'. Isn't that what typical villains are after?

They have those recyclable bags underneath the sink down there I believe, if you want to take one of those. No need to stretch out any of the good jumpers.

Oh yes, because taking over the world is boring, isn't it?

I'm just not entirely sure we're allowed to thieve from the kitchen, but then I don't suppose it matters. What's the worst they could do to me for taking a bottle of scotch?

Bit unlike you, though. Caring about my jumpers.

It's entirely predictable, John, and that makes it boring.

I suppose the worst they could do might be to remove you from this Castle, though I can't say how much of a punishment that would actually be.

Honestly, I don't care about them, but considering that the last few 'vanished', along the nature of this place, I'm not particularly curious as to the kinds of things you might find if the rest get ruined.

It's predictable, sure, but it's how they go about it that makes it interesting. If you just concentrate on the solution, of course it'll be boring.

You never know. Misbehaving might be what gets people sent home. <*fail!erase>On second thought, maybe I shouldn't be stealing anything.<*/fail!erase>

In the end, the solution is what matters the most.

Just get up here, John.

To you. To the rest of the world, it's the getting to the solution that's most of the fun.

I'll be right up.
