Hey doc? I know we've never spoken much before, but I was wondering if you could maybe talk to my girlfriend, Jo? She's one of those who came back from the dead after the reaver attack, and...well, I'm no psychiatrist but I know PTSD when I see it. I'm worried she's not coping very well.

I would be more than happy to talk to Jo. But does she want to talk to me?

I can't even get her to talk to me. Whenever I try, she deflects, and she's not sleeping well, so she'll drink until she passes out.

Well, I can't force anyone to talk to me.

But there are ways to approach the subject that are more conducive to a productive conversation.

If you've got any pointers, I'm all ears. Because I'd be doing the same thing, in her shoes. I've been there.

Well, okay, let's start with what you said - you said you'd be doing the same. I trust you know Jo, enough to see that about her. What would convince you to talk to me about something similar?

'Nothing under the sun' isn't a viable answer here.

I'm talking to you right now, and to be honest, I'm not even sure why, except that I don't know what else to do. That and Andy seems to be doing a lot better now than he was before.

But about PTSD? What would get you to talk to me about that? I can assure you I'm not mining for anything about you, just trying to illustrate, that if you two are as similar as you say, it should be easy to figure out how to find the right way to bring this up with Jo.

I don't know. I don't really talk about it with anyone. Short of getting in her face about it, I'm kind of at a loss.

Right, knew this would be dif

Well, you can try bringing it up not as a fault of hers but of the Reavers. Emphasize that you know she isn't weak, but given how anomalous the Reavers were it's understandable if she has someone who is more knowledgeable on the subject guide her through processing what happened.

Like, I know the basics of a Glock 22 but if I wanted to handle a Winchester Model 70 I would go to someone more knowledgeable on firearms before attempting to learn everything about it on my own.

Knowing some gun safety already, might I make it? Possibly, but a sidearm is an entirely different breed of gun than a hunting rifle. Just because they both shoot projectiles doesn't mean knowledge of one transfers over to the other.

Jo knows herself and her limitations, I bet she handles stress and high pressure situations rather well, but that's not the same as dealing with raping, murdering monsters.

It might make her feel at ease knowing I know how to shoot a gun, too.

And not all monsters are created equal. I get it.
