Didn't see you around the castle, on the news I heard there had been an explosion at a night club in town.

I spent the first part of the evening bothering one of the newer arrivals since he watched the Warehouse 13 DVDs and then some, the latter part up absurdly late watching a TV news feed. I'm fine, just sleepy and still in PJs.

I'm guessing you're intact since you sent this. Good.

I was at the castle, memorizing local law books. One of these days, I need to get a life.

I'd suggest we go out and do something fun, but that doesn't exactly seem right given the circumstances.

I suppose your viewpoint would be closer to the correct. I'm still trying to adjust myself to this mostly human society.

Looking at things from a six-century perspective still colors my thinking.

What would you do for fun in six-century perspective?

Looking at the deaths from the viewpoint of six hundred years takes much meaning out of the lives of the individuals. That's what I meant. Humans come and go so quickly.

I don't know if you would classify it as fun, but this afternoon, I am going to the local airfield. There is a helicopter of a similar model to one I have qualified on. I am to do a check ride, and then go on the roster as an on-call pilot in case one of their regulars is unable to take a charter. Oddly enough, I have much experience with flying at night.

After that, if you would like to do something, I am open to suggestions.

Oh, I get it. Yeah.

Fun means something you enjoy. Something that makes you feel happy to be doing it. Do you enjoy flying?

Well, there's sleepover-like activities. Finding an arcade somewhere. Computer games on my laptop. Movies. Eating out somewhere. Again, it depends what you find amusing? Or a combination of the above if you haven't tried some of this stuff out and don't know what you want to do.

Flying a helicopter well is a challenge, and I enjoy a challenge. I don't know if you've heard the joke: helicopters don't fly, they beat the air into submission.

If you can believe it, I have done none of those things. Since I became a Death Dealer, I did almost nothing but practice the skills I needed to stay alive. I am open to your suggestions.

I haven't. Sounds fun in its own way, then.

Hmm! Let's do a computer game-movie night combo. I'll grab some DVDs from the library you might like and see about a few snack-like things from the kitchen that, just maybe, you wouldn't have tried yet. (Unless you have a request along those lines?)

Of course.

If I don't respond, knock louder or come in because I've dozed off mid-day.
