Who: The rogue alpha werewolf, a bunch of high school kids, and Derek. What: A dangerous 'wild animal' stalks a bunch of kids at the school. Where: BHHS When: At night, after dark (idk what time it gets dark there) on Wednesday night? Rating: Violent Status: In progress, open to all!
Derek had been dispatched to pick up his youngest sister after whichever one of her after-school activities had finished. He had grumbled about it but he'd picked up his keys automatically so everyone knew he was going to do it. Now he was in the parking lot, leaning against the hood of the Camero and watching the school, waiting for Melly to come out so they could go. Maybe he'd treat her to some ice cream on the way home...
A strange scent drifted past his nose and every single cell in Derek's body stilled, listening intently, bracing for action. That scent...it was definitely wolf, but not that new beta kid. No, this was different, sharper and more intense. It was... he sniffed the air again, considering the scent and the direction it came from.
Alpha
It hit him suddenly and Derek stiffened. An alpha that wasn't his mother could mean only one thing - the rogue who had bitten the kid, Scott. Pushing away from the car, Derek stalked towards the school. He didn't care if Melly's group had finished or not. He was finding her and he was getting her the hell out of here. She was human, and he wasn't about to let her get turned by someone who wasn't their mother, and especially against her will. Zeroing in on his sister's heartbeat, he followed the sound until he found her leaving a classroom with a bunch of her friends.
"Get out of here," he told them, unintentionally scaring them with his intense eyebrows. "There's a...a wild animal on the loose. Go home, NOW." The kids scrambled to obey, rushing for the doors which was good, because the werewolf was on the other side of Derek - he could feel him getting closer. Derek swallowed nervously and his eyes locked with Melly's. "You too, kiddo. Get home and tell Mom."
He tossed her the keys to his car. She wasn't licenced, but if she got caught, dealing with that seemed a minor hassle compared to her being hurt by the alpha who chose that moment to leap. Derek turned just in time, shifting as he moved, and the two fell to the floor in a chaotic mass of limbs. He could hear Melly scream, and he yelled for her to run, but most of his attention had to be on the wolf above him, clawing at him. He managed to get the upper hand for a handful of seconds but he was a beta fighting an alpha, and he had no chance of winning unless he could somehow incapacitate the rogue.
Derek vaguely heard the sound of footsteps running away, but he was fighting for his life now. He could feel blood oozing from wounds and he cried out sharply as claws dug into his thigh. A quick glance around confirmed that Melly was gone. He had to hope that he'd given her enough of a head start to get away. If not, this was all for nothing. A door slammed somewhere along the hallway, and there was the sound of several pairs of footsteps coming towards them, causing the rogue to abandon Derek in favor of slinking off into the shadows.
