HALE HOUSE FIRE RESULTS IN FATALITIES AND MANDATORY EVACUATION by Renee Jones Late in the evening on October the 31st, law enforcement officials responded to a 911 call reporting a fire in the Beacon Hills Preserve. By the time police and firefighters arrived on scene, the blaze had spread, requiring a mandatory evacuation of homes closest to the Preserve. After significant effort, the Beacon Hills Fire Department was able to control and eventually put out the flames. According to reports, the source of the wildfire was the Hale property, located deep in the protected woods. In a stroke of tragedy, the fire resulted in the death of many of the Hale family. Confirmed among the deceased are Talia and Michael Hale, Anna Hale, Laura Hale, and Thea Hale. When the Sheriff's department was contacted to speak to the nature of the fire—whether the conflagration was indeed accidental or if arson might be suspected—Sheriff John Stilinski declined to offer details at this time. The Sheriff only had this to say: "This is an ongoing investigation. And rest assured, we are looking into every possible angle." No doubt all eyes in Beacon Hills are on the Hale family following this tragic event. Funeral services will be handled by Beacon Hills Funeral Home and Beacon Hills Cemetery. Further details remain unknown. |
MOD NOTE: Although we are still in the midst of figuring out certain details around plot and timing, I thought I would post this and, soon to follow, the Rivalry Bonfire event to give time to those characters who would wish to attend (for a little less doom 'n' gloom). Of course, most of the townspeople would know about the Hale fire and subsequent evacuation of the affected area by now, especially following this issue of the paper, so everyone should act accordingly with this knowledge in mind. Until we finalize the timing details, this is not a full "unfreeze" as of yet; let's consider this the "thawing" in progress. --W
