"Yeah, he can get a bit medieval about things once in a blue moon," Kate said, a small private smile curving her lips.
Not quite as medieval as her father with a broadsword, but Allison didn't need to know about that gory little detail. Not yet. Kate didn't want to push that onto her niece so soon for fear of spooking her and turning her off from some of the necessary actions of hunting that Allison might not be ready for.
"Maybe," said Kate, nodding encouragingly. "You should ask him. See if we can't get that brother of mine to loosen up and have some fun once in a while. Now that's a family night I can get behind."
She began walking off in the direction of a particularly large tree that looked like it might make for a sturdy target. Kate eyed the distance as she went, mentally estimating the yards until she reached approximately sixty. She secured the target board to the trunk before turning back to Allison with a grin.
"Alright, doll," she hollered back across the distance. "Let's see how badass Snow White can be. Show me what you got!"
