Allison glanced at her aunt, surprised. "Really?" she asked. "He's normally using his guns, I've never seen him with a crossbow. Or bow, even." Except for the few times he'd practiced with her or shown her an easier way to handle the crossbow.
Of course, she hadn't really seen him on hunts, so there was no telling what he did then.
It wasn't that Allison minded being like her father. She just wished he'd see her as capable and competent, not someone who needed to be coddled and protected from everything. Not that she actually wanted to go out hunting - killing that omega still haunted her, despite everything Kate did to reassure her - but she wanted the choice.
"Maybe I can get him out here some time and we can have a contest," Allison said. "And he can see just how I've improved."
