Bow-and-arrow, crossbow, or otherwise, Kate was enthused to see Allison with weapon in hand, eager to get in some practice. The fact that the younger huntress appeared to be considering tactical advantages was also promising to hear. "Great thinking," Kate said, commending the consideration.
After a beat, she said, "You know, that's your father's go-to weapon?" She nodded at the crossbow in her niece's hands. "Doesn't surprise me you'd take to it, too. You are daddy's girl," she said with a teasing wrinkle of her nose.
Her tone was light enough that it wouldn't be construed as an insult. In truth, Kate may have been laying on a slight dig, knowing how she's painted Chris as the overbearingly protective papa bear and how much Allison takes issue with being thought of as a fragile little girl to be shielded. She may have been purposely misrepresenting things, but it wasn't too much of a stretch. Her brother hasn't exactly made it a difficult yarn to spin with his attitude when it came to the topic of his daughter and hunting.
