"Good," said Kate, nodding her approval. "That's good. Follow-through is very important."
She meant more than just in archery. As for dropping the bow after the release, that was a flaw in form that Kate could sympathize with. That had always been her problem as well back when she was learning to shoot. In her case, that was an indication of Kate's personality. She takes the shot, and she's already wanting to get the jump on that next task. Although she improved significantly with practice, there was a reason Kate preferred guns to the bow or even the crossbow in a family that leaned more towards archery, at least at their roots. Kate, on the other hand, cared little for tradition and was all about modern efficiency.
"Oh, I have no doubts about your aim, sweetie," Kate assured her niece. "We've just gotta work on your arm strength."
She may not put too much stock in tradition, but Kate respected the skill and dedication it took to shoot well with the recurve. The compound bow, with its wheels and pulley system, aided in taking away a lot of the work behind pulling the bowstring taut. It made things easier, though, in terms of speed, power, and accuracy, all essential factors during a hunt.
"In the meantime, we can just adjust the weights on your compound bow."
