Kate, on the other hand, loved guns. From handguns to sniper rifles, she loved the long-range advantage. It was quick, and it was sneaky. It had concussive force as well as penetrating power. Couldn't beat that for getting the job done. She could appreciate tradition as much as the next girl, but she simply didn't care to be as medieval about it as running around bisecting people with broadswords. It was effective, sure, but that was more Gerard's thing.
"Natural talent, doll," said Kate with a casual one-shouldered shrug as she leaned up against the side of the Kia, watching Allison arrange her bolts. There may have been a gleam of pride in her eyes. Allison really did remind Kate of herself at her age in so many ways. "And hey, didn't you end up nationally ranked in archery? That's nothing less than impressive." She grinned. "If I were your dad, I would let you go with whatever weapon you're most comfortable with." She didn't say so aloud, but the more comfortable with the weapon, the more effective the kills.
