ᴡʜᴏ: Jackson Whittemore + Isaac Lahey
ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ: BHHS locker room.
ᴡʜᴇɴ: [ʙᴀᴄᴋᴅᴀᴛᴇᴅ] Fri, 23 October, after cross country practice.
ᴡʜᴀᴛ: He finally loses his cool, learns about werewolves.
ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢs: Fighting, blood, teenage angst.
sᴛᴀᴛᴜs: Closed, complete.
With the way he'd been tense since the thirteenth of October, it was really amazing Jackson had managed to keep his cool for this long. The inevitable breakdown was coming, he could feel it, the therapist seemed to think it was on its way, and even his parents could sort of sense it. Maybe even his friends seemed to notice something was up with him and they were all pulling back ever-so-slightly. As far as Jackson knew, they probably all just suspected he was in a bad mood with the way lacrosse and cross country practices were going lately. Used to being the star player without match, two of the other players were starting to encroach on that title and Jackson was getting worried. His position as team captain was one of his selling points for college and if he lost the spot to McCall or Lahey, he would probably go crazy. It wasn't that he didn't want to be on a team with people who were good, it was just that he wanted to be the best. That was a very hard selling point and he was slowly feeling like he was losing his shine, especially with the way Coach was talking about them almost as much as he was Jackson. Once or twice the word co-captain was thrown around and that didn't sit well with Jackson at all. Co-captain didn't sound as good as captain. The locker room was mostly cleared out by the time Jackson finally felt overwhelmed by everything. Exhaustion from the run might have taken a toll on his emotional control, but between the guidance counsellor harping on his being adopted, McCall and Lahey starting to outplay him in lacrosse, compounded by the fact that Lahey was by far likely to break the record Jackson had been striving for since he started cross country, anyone who had eyes could see that Jackson was only a fraction of a second from snapping. Slamming the door to his locker shut, Jackson stalked around the row of lockers to where Lahey's was, hoping that he hadn't left already. It was dangerous going after him and with the way Isaac was starting to really stand up for himself, Jackson might have been setting himself up for an actual fight. He would have been more worried if Coach wasn't likely to be on the opposite side of the school or halfway home already and couldn't really get them in trouble for beating the life out of each other if that's what this stupid 'conversation' Jackson was about to instigate led to. Fortunately (unfortunately?), Isaac was still in the locker room and Jackson wasted no time getting in his face. "What are you doing?" Jackson' voice was accusatory and his expression was clearly set in anger. Hopefully Isaac didn't give him some stupid answer that equated to announcing the obvious, because that would only really serve to enflame Jackson all the more. As if his brain calculated that (despite the fact he felt as if he was running on auto-pilot), he added, "I mean drugs...steroids. What the hell are you on, Lahey?" |
