Peter + Reese
Though Peter understood the analogy, he detested it. He couldn't count on both hands the number of times it had been used in motivational speeches or business classes and he hadn't really cared for it in the beginning and now it just sounded trite. "Aim to be more than an insect," he replied. As a wolf himself, Peter might have been biased towards them, but the pack oriented animal was strong both in its group and outside of it. Wolves were capable and the transformation implied in the butterfly nonsense was applicable to him as a werewolf without the helpless and pathetic side that was attached to the fragile winged insect.
"Skills allow you to open those doors yourself. If you wait around for them to open for you, you should just get used to wearing that costume and picking the pockets of idiots at a county fair." Adjusting his posture, Peter fluidly straightened himself up and easily tossed the remains of the candied apple into a trash can no inconsiderable distance away. "Learn how to pick locks."
With that advice, Peter spared one last look at the kid before starting on his way. There were still things he needed to accomplish tonight and he had already wasted enough time here at the fair.
