Chris had wandered across the room toward Penthea. He stepped beside her, taking over the page flipping. He wasn't exactly the kind of guy to just accept that they didn't know anything. Especially not if it meant running blindly into something where they could get killed. It wasn't his idea of a great time. So instead he focused on looking for answers while everyone else got all upset.
"Okay, but you're not going alone, Peyton." Penny glanced at Chris and then walked back over to her cousins. Obviously they weren't going to let Peyton go alone. To be honest, this probably wasn't even something they should be dealing with. Shouldn't their parents be handling this? They'd never faced a big threat like this. Little demons that invaded the house, sure. Lower-level demons when their parents were training them, okay. But something like this? It wasn't really their area. "Should we maybe tell Mom and Aunt Piper and Aunt Paige about all this before we run off half-cocked?"
Chris looked up from the book. "No. If we run to them every time something is wrong they'll never trust us. And eventually they won't be here to do it for us, so we need to learn. Besides, we can handle one lousy demon."
