Gabe didn't need empathy to know that she was probably feeling very unsteady right now because of all his emotions jumping around. He was glad he hat flat-lined his emotions. He didn't need for her to get overly suspicious about this. Gabe didn't want his dad finding out tha the had screwed up the first date. If she had asked, he wouldn't have denied that this felt a little awkward and weird, but he would have attributed it to it being both of their first dates.
"Sounds very amusing." Gabriel thought about how tourism could ruin a place that was perfectly good, then realized that San Fransisco was probably the same. "That sounds perfectly wicked. Maybe one day I'll come back to pull a minor prank on my family..." He knew he wouldn't, but Gabe was trying to keep conversation going.
