((lazy me))
Julian watched her expression as they approached the car. She was impressed. He liked that. The car was actually the one part of his plan that wasn't intentionally meant to woo her to the darkside. He got it because he liked it. It was his personal pride and joy. But being that she really liked it, he thought he might play it up a bit. Anything he could possibly do to draw her closer to him was a big plus.
Of course he did notice her searching his expression. She was trying to use her empathy. And he did his best to mask most of his emotions. He only let through the ones he thought she would expect or feel comfortable with. They were honest emotions, of course, but not all of his emotions. So he was glad when her face looked relaxed again. Apparently she was happy with what she found.
"You're curious about the car, aren't you?" He wasn't stupid. He knew most people in college couldn't afford a car like this. "My grandfather was a very generous person." Which, more or less, was true. His paternal grandfather had slept with a demon and practically let her kill him for the sake of his dad. But he figured she could take what she wanted from what he said and he wouldn't have lie because being vague was good enough.
"The Bay Mirror? Sure, doesn't everyone?" It was pretty much San Francisco's hugest paper, after all. But he had a much different reason for knowing that. He had gone there to watch his mother obsessively for the past five years or so.
