She'd just gone off into space in front of a stranger, not to mention, oh, a very public cafeteria. And on top of that, she'd just dropped a very old and clearly valuable piece of jewelry that didn't belong to her! That was just fantastic. Way to be subtle. Good job, Parker. Really. She rubbed her forehead with one of her hands, her head tilting when she closed her eyes.
"I'm sorry," she said, opening her eyes again and lifting her head. She gave him a half-hearted smile, intent on apology. "I'm just- very tired. Not a lot of sleep lately, been running around here, around outside constantly. My aunt just had a baby," she explained, hoping that was enough. It was lame, yeah, but she couldn't change the fact that she'd reacted so obviously to something way beyond out of the ordinary to mortal beings. Not to mention, she already felt cruddy, and just worse now because she freaked out some poor stranger.
