To say the least, things had been exhausting over the weekend. The new baby and everyone coming in and out of the hospital room to see Billie and the little girl, just- wow. Hospitals weren't Parker's favorite place to be anyway, not with all the sick people and sadness she felt swarming through the building. Granted, some places within those walls, like the maternity ward, were usually enveloped in happiness and joy, but then there were still those pesky labor pains. She may have control over her empathy, but no empath could keep every single thing out. Suffice it to say, she was feeling quite grumpy and already decided it would be a hell of a long time before she came to hospital again if she didn't need to.
Billie wanted some ice cream, and what Billie wanted, Billie got- no one said no to the woman who'd just given birth, especially not Billie. So Parker had gone instead of Kyle this time. She needed a change of atmosphere, and the cafeteria was the furthest from the ER as she could get in the building. Thank the Gods they were leaving in a few hours.
She passed by Julian, not really giving him a glance, not at first anyway. A purely chipper feeling swept past her, like a kid who'd just come down the stairs on Christmas morning to see all the shiny new presents. She turned back, pausing in her steps and looked directly at him. "What are you so giddy about?"
