"What?" I stare at Edgecombe, utterly bewildered. "Is this a new plea for sympathy?" I say eventually. "Am I supposed to feel sorry for you because you're clearly going mad?"
But that's the strange thing about this - she does look genuinely distressed, and I do feel guilty for harassing her. I bite my lip, considering the situation. Is this just more of her acting?
"I'm Susan Bones, remember?" I say. It comes out sounding more sarcastic than sympathetic. "And you know what you did."
