Yay RPs!
LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY stacey_marie)
Who: Stacey Fairchild, open
Where: the Diagon Alley Scrivenshafts location
When: August 9, 1995, afternoon
Why: Journals and stuff. And we need an RP :)
Alice had invited me to come stay at her house a few days, and since I hadn't seen my best friend since we left Hogwarts, I was more than happy to go, even if her mum doesn't seem to like me that much. But she was agreeing to let me stay, so it can't be that bad!
Anyway, Mrs Wilkinson had to run some errands and asked if Alice and I wanted to come along, so we all Flooed to Diagon Alley. And after enjoying some ice cream, we head into Scrivenshafts where I decide to check out this new fad in the window while Alice looks at some glittery ink.
These journal things do look kind of cool, and I wonder if I ought to buy one or not.

It's definitely past the point in summer when it's fun to sit around and do nothing all day, so I've been getting kind of bored lately. Sure, we've been doing some family bonding stuff -- playing board games and watching movies and visiting Lake District National Park -- but sometimes I just need a break from my parents. Every girl knows that shopping is a fine way to pass the time, so I asked Mum if I could Floo over to Diagon Alley and browse the shops. I know Muggles aren't supposed to be on the Floo network, but hey, I'm a witch! And my parents wanted to be able to Floo to Hogwarts -- or to Hogsmeade, really, and then get a carriage to Hogwarts -- in case something happened. They're so overprotective, but it's nice to be able to Floo places during the summer! When Jill heard what I was doing she wanted to come too, and at first Mum is reluctant but we convinced her in the end -- after all, I'm fifteen and a half and we'd be safer together anyways. Once we got to Diagon Alley, the first place we went was Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour so we could eat ice cream while we walked around! Somehow we ended up in Scrivenshafts and Jill saw a fancy journal display in the window, so we went to look at it and I accidentally bumped into some girl. "Sorry!" I said quickly, "I didn't see you standing there." |

Whoops! I almost knock over the whole stack of journals when I get bumped into. Fortunately, I manage to save most of them, though I'm huddled awkwardly over the pile for a moment. "Don't worry about it!" I tell her, regardless, a smile on my face, "It happens." I attempt to straighten out the pile of journals. Who stacked them like this, anyway? Oh good, she's not angry with me! I reach out to help her fix the stack and out of the corner of my eye I see that Jillian's wandered off towards the self-signing stationery. But that's okay as long as I keep her in sight. I turn back to the girl and notice that she's smaller than me (I love when people are smaller than me! Then I don't feel like the runt), but she definitely looks older than Jill. Which means she's of Hogwarts age, assuming she's a witch. "So, do you go to Hogwarts?" I ask her when we've nearly gotten the pile back to how it was before. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread) |

Yeah, I'm really tiny. Those first years are going to start shooting taller than me soon. I'm used to it, though. "I do go to Hogwarts!" I tell her, grateful for the help getting the stack in some semblance of order again, "I'm a third year. Ravenclaw! What about you?" She definitely looks a bit older than I am. Hey, I know the feeling! I'm taller than the first years now, but a few years ago that was definitely not the case. "I'm a fifth year Hufflepuff," I answer. I realize I don't know her name, so I add, "My name's Hannah Abbott!" before picking up one of the journals to look at the list of features. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread) |

I just feel like at almost fourteen, I'm pretty much done. I really want to make the full five feet, though! Whoops! "Sorry! I'm Stacey Fairchild," I tell her, "Pleased to meet you!" As she picks up the journal I look over at it, hoping that she doesn't mind. "Are you going to buy one. They look really cool and I'm definitely thinking about it." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread) |

"They do look really cool," I agree before remembering that I spent all my money on ice cream and a book for Jill about magical creatures. "Ooh, but I'm out of cash," I wince, "I'll have to come back next week if I want to get one." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread) |

"Oh, that's too bad," I say. Fortunately, I think I have enough money to get one. "I think..." I look across the shop and see Alice talking to the sales clerk about the different colors of glittery inks, "I think I will buy it. It'll be a great way to keep in touch with this whole world the rest of the Summer...my whole family is Muggles, you see." I sift through the pile to find one with a nice blue cover - hey, I liked the colour even before I became a Ravenclaw! (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread) |

"My family's Muggles too!" I tell her, belatedly adding, "oh, but my sister might be a witch. We're hoping she gets her Hogwarts letter this summer!" I notice that said sister has finished her rounds of the store and is looking rather impatient waiting for me. "Hey, I have to go now," I tell Stacey Fairchild, "but I'll see you at Hogwarts! Or maybe we'll talk over the journals. We'll see!" (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread) |

I hope she is! My brother's not," I tell her. Still, she has to go so I give her a grin. "I'll definitely talk to you later! Have a good day!" It looks like Alice is finishing up, too, anyway. |
